Program Description: Songs of Peace from around the world
"Become familiar with traditional music from cultures across the world! Berklee Graduate, International performer Sagit Zilberman performs “Songs of Peace from around the world ” an interactive global music concert. This concert introduces adults to instruments such as the didgeridoo, space-drum, recorder and saxophone as a part of a cultural journey she has been engaged in, around the world. As her background is in yoga instruction and tour guiding, She traveled in countries such as Kenya, Brazil, Poland, and the United States as well as her native country Israel. With her music and story, she aspires to empower her audience to dare to feel the passion in their lives and of course -  travel and explore. There will be some audience participation optional."

Here is the info for the adults program, it could also be a mix of the two programs, and could be intergenerational - teens, adults, families, seniors. 
This program features 20 instruments and 7 cultures and also have a dimension of wellness, personal growth and spirituality, also it features different musical styles such as: Jazz, World Music, Folk Music, Traditional Music and American Music.

I've reached Boston 14 years ago to study jazz saxophone at Berklee College of Music  between 2007-2011 and before that at the Jerusalem academy of Music & Dance  between 2004-2006. Through my travels around the world with a variety of musical projects (in Africa, Europe, South-America and the Middle-East) I've studied and collected unique styles and instruments. I've realized that through playing the folk music of a country, I could transport my audience to that country that has a unique essence/feeling and bring it to life right there. Exploring different cultures creates a sense of one world community and peace. 
The most frequent thing I hear from people after my show is: "I feel a great sense of love, serenity and peace in my heart" and they usually comment on the instruments "wow, what interesting instruments, I've never seen this.. or that"  

Here you could see a few examples of songs and their cultures. Since this is a low cost (solo) show, I am playing all the instruments and sing. I have a looper that adds the layers together, and so - everything you hear on these videos is played by me at a live show moment.

The show starts with darkness, "the creation of the world started with silence" and gradually I add sounds from nature, the elements, then we journey to different cultures and countries and in the end - coming back home to the United States and remembering the good that we have here with all the diversity. It is highly engaging the audience clapping, singing, counting, dancing!!)  


Songs of Peace from Around the World takes the audience members on a journey around the world through different cultures and times. Some are well known songs that evoke feelings of peace and community. There will be songs from Africa, Ireland, South America, Israel and popular American songs. Sagit is a multi instrumentalist world musician who plays a mix of special instruments through which she educates the audience about the countries where they're from and also opens and expands their world. She uses the skills of improvisation and mindfulness practice she studied and gathered over the years from her endeavors as a Touring musician around the world and Yoga & Meditation Instructor at Organizations and Facilities to add a multidisciplinary dimension to her presentation. The program will sense the audience members and if they allow, it will invite them to participate in different ways.  

Another description formate: Magical and rare opportunity to experience traditional music from cultures across the world! International jazz multi-instrumentalist Sagit Zilberman will perform an interactive global music program who has traveled in more than 10 States. This program introduces audience members to instruments such as the didgeridoo, rainstick, tongue drum, space drum, saxophone, and through unique sounds and songs invites them to celebrate and appreciate our diverse planets’ nature, animals and cultures! It also empowers young, and young at heart to use their own voices, rhythm and body as instruments to play and create music with others.

Audience/Age groups:Public Libraries in the USA serve a diverse community and provides for a wide range of educational and entertainment opportunities for interested patrons to partake. The following strategic goals and audiences provide examples:
Infant to Early Elementary School Age and their families - Improve visual/sound perception, learning and executive functioning skills, increase sense of joy by participating in an activity with their family and others in their environment. 
Elementary School – Fun, hands-on engaging opportunity to encourage discovery and limit learning gaps by participating, recognizing sounds, cultural distinctions, geography, and elements of nature that they know. 
Young Adults and Adults – enhance social interactions and peer support where participants are invited to partake in the musical activity and answer questions about cultures and the planet. 
All Ages, especially Adults and Seniors - Enhance social interaction, provide for physical activity. 
Cross Generational Learning – Share interests and contributing to a common purpose or goal.  
All Ages, Cultural Diversity: Raise awareness and understanding; inform dialog, display culture, and traditions. 
how does the program address different ages and learning abilities?The program is designed to deliver the message to be received easily for the different groups depending on their learning capabilities and age. For example: sometimes in a group of toddlers, there are mentally challenged individuals, autistic or other developmental deficiencies. The approach there is more experiential, fun and captivating their interest and more “hands on” experience. For the older crowds, it’s more music, more diversity of songs, more “material” being taught. For the teens it’s more about self growth and finding our path, inspiration songs about life and empowering them individually. The program appeals to all ages.

An international musician from Israel,  started playing recorder and piano at the age of 6 years old, studied at  Berklee college of Music  Performance Graduate with honors Cum Laude, and have performed internationally and toured in more than 15 countries in South-America, Europe, Middle-East, Africa, and learned songs and also unique instruments that she now owns and plays. She has been student of the Jerusalem Academy of Music & Dance in 2005-2007 and recorded a jazz album "Simply Love" in 2007 on jazz saxophone which sold more than 1000 copies so far. Sagit toured with jazz bands and recorded in Poland, and Brazil, in festivals and clubs. Sagit used to work as a Yoga & Mediation instructor and a tour guid in Israel, and she loves to travel. She has been presenting her program above around the country for the past year and has received encouraging reviews that made her keep pursuing it and advertising to more locations and libraries.

​The program tells the story of a little boy who grows up in Africa and makes his way through different countries when he realizes he wants to go back home. It’s an imaginary story about independence, appreciation for nature, life wit and wisdom, rhythm, listening to our passions, our hearts and bodies and commuting with others along the journey. 

1. “The song of the Rainforest”/Congo - Africa - 5 minutes

2. “Welcome song”- let’s groove/Nigeria Africa- 5 minutes
Fanga Alafia is a groovy-moovy Nigerian welcome song (call and response) which tells the story of a kind and queen welcoming new guests for their kingdom. Translation - 
Alafia: A greeting, like hello with the meaning of "good health" or "peace" (like "shalom"). Alafia is a type of traditional welcome dance.
Fanga: A traditional welcome dance. It's often misspelled as "funga".
Ashe: (Pronounced "ah-shay") The Yoruba believe "ashe" is a basic force emanating from the Creator that unites all living and non-living things. Some translate it as "amen" (although that word has more western connotations).

3. Celtic dance/Irland - 5 minutes 
Using recorder and hand-pan and cajon (Peruvian percussion drum box) with looper. The audience will be instructed to clap. 

4. "Sari gelin - Arabic song from Turkey/Armenia, meditative and contemplative. 

5. Hene Ma Tov/Israel - 3 minutes This is a song that unites us as a group. It’s message is “how good it is to sit brothers and sisters together” we all sit as one and move to the music, I teach how to sing one sound together. 

6. “Still I Fly”/US - 3 minutes  a song to empower children about the moment to spread their wings and fly and do whatever they dream of doing in their lives.

I've collected these in my travels and were given as gifts from friends sometimes. They are from: Australia, Nigeria, Brazil, Vietnam, Chile, Jamaica, Israel.

this is my drum, it has 10 notes, the lowest is E, 4 of those sounds repeat as an octave. so only 6 different notes. It’s easier than piano, but challenging to translate the harmony of the songs. Playing it for people and for children is the most fun thing I’ve ever done.
